I'm Paul Dennis

I’m a singer / guitarist / songwriter / educator from Fort Collins, Colorado. I perform a solo act which can be either electric or acoustic. From Florida’s Gulf Coast and New York City to Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and South Dakota’s Black Hills, I have brought enjoyment to audiences with blues, rock, country, and original music. I’m doing the same in Colorado. I also educate and entertain with a presentation on the History of the Blues to schools, libraries, museums, and workshops.

electric show

In this show I sing and play my electric guitar along with blues-type background music tracks which I have performed and recorded myself, after having taught digital audio classes at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD for 18 years. It’s a full-band sound from a one-man band.

acoustic show

There is no pre-recorded background music in this show. I just sing and play my acoustic guitar, performing original and classic rock songs along with a vocal harmony processor, which allows me to do songs by groups known for their harmony singing, such as the Eagles, Beach Boys, Beatles, Hollies, and many others.

blues history

I educate and entertain audiences at schools, libraries, museums, concerts, and workshops with a presentation entitled The History of the Blues, combining audio/video examples, performance, analysis, and audience interaction. As a former university professor with a masters degree in curriculum and instruction, my teaching and public speaking experience coupled with my musical skills ensures an experience that is both educational and entertaining.

electric

In my electric show I sing and play the guitar backed up by blues and R&B tunes I’ve recorded myself from, among others, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, Rufus Thomas, Elmore James, Tommy Castro, Jonny Lang, Solomon Burke, Steve Miller, Delbert McClinton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bo Diddley, Al Green, and Bobby “Blue” Bland.

acoustic

In my acoustic show I just sing and play my acoustic guitar, performing original songs and classic rock from, among others, the Beatles, the Everly Brothers, Tom Petty, Eddie Cochran, the Eagles, the Coasters, CCR, Van Morrison, Elvis Presley, the Hollies, Clyde McPhatter, Tommy Roe, Roy Orbison, Del Shannon, Jay & the Americans, Cat Stevens, Eddie Floyd, and Marvin Gaye.

education

In a survey of 700 elementary school educators about the role of the arts in their classroom teaching, 96% said the arts help make learning fun and relevant for their students, and 92% said they would like to be using more music in their teaching. My presentation is arts education (music), but it’s also history, social studies, culture, and diversity.
Paul is such a great energy to have on stage in parallel with being a genuinely nice and great person to work with. He puts on a fun lively show entertaining people of all ages. I would definitely recommend Paul to anyone looking for an act to book for some quality music! Rock on!

Owner, The Colorado Room

We hired Paul to perform for a corporate dinner function, for a group of about 50. Paul was super accommodating and very easy to work with. We enjoyed his music very much and would not hesitate to hire, or recommend, Paul Kopco.

Community President, Platte Valley Bank

Our organization has hired Paul Kopco to perform for two of our social events. We could not have made a better choice. Paul can do it all – blues, rock, country and his original tunes. We have wanted a musician who would provide a “strolling musician” presence with excellent acoustic guitar and voice. We will hire him again soon. As one of our members said, “Paul Kopco was absolutely the perfect musician for this event. We could visit and listen at the same time.” He understands his audience and makes the evening a big success.
